CHAKRAS
Our 7 Chakras
The Universe is made up of matter and energy. This energy flows through every entity of the Universe -- from the smallest atoms to the largest organisms. The sacred Indian texts, known as Vedas, contain the ancient wisdom of Ayurveda and Yoga. These texts also contain valuable information about how the Universal energy flows through your body and the functions it performs.
It is believed that there are over 108 energy channels, or chakras, in the human body. The Sanskrit term 'chakra' means wheel, and it is used to describe the cyclic manner in which these channels maintain the life force or prana in your body. However, these hundreds of chakras intersect at seven major points in your body. These include the Muladhara Chakra, at the base of your spine; the Svadhisthana Chakra, located below the navel; the Manipura Chakra, in the region between your navel and breastbone; the Anahata Chakra, at the center of your heart; the Vishuddha Chakra, in your throat; the Ajna Chakra, between your eyebrows; and the Sahasrara Chakra, at the crown of your head.
These chakras symbolise the integration of your anatomy, thoughts, emotions, and spirituality. These are the wheels upon which the vehicle of your body rests and moves; and just like any vehicle, your body is at its best when these wheels are balanced and aligned. When any one or more of these chakras are out of balance, you may experience changes in your physical, mental, and emotional health in the form of aches or pains, overwhelming sadness or anger, inability to focus, struggles at work or interpersonal relationships, and erratic behaviour. But when these chakras are in perfect harmony and balance, you are able to achieve clarity of thought, better physical health and vitality, and experience a connection with your higher or wiser self.
